JOB DESCRIPTION
Established in 2019, DNA Skills is an End-point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) primarily involved in the sport and physical activity sectors. It is part of the SCL Education Group of companies, whose provisions within primary schools, further/higher education and work-based learning have provided opportunities for over 250,000 young people across the UK since 1999.
End-Point Assessments take place at the end of an apprentice’s journey once they have fully completed the Professional Standard at their place of employment. End-Point assessments are conducted by independent assessors on behalf of a separate organisation (the End-Point Assessment Organisation – EPAO). They are holistic assessments of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) that have been learnt by the apprentice during their off the job training. At DNA Skills we aim to ensure that employers are gaining an apprentice who is confident and fully job-ready, so therefore our Independent End-Point Assessors (IEPA) will make sure that standards are consistently met across the board.
End-Point assessments will be conducted onsite and remotely on dates agreed with the employer. IEPAs will only be able to undertake End-Point assessments of apprentices, with whom they have no conflicts of interest. They must not have been involved in the on-programme training, assessment or line management of apprentices that they are conducting assessments for. EPA activities will be quality assured by a member of the DNA Skills quality team.
IEPAs for the Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) EPA will be qualified to meet the occupational profile of the apprentices that they will be assessing. The role requires someone who is flexible in their approach to all tasks, with the independence to travel and has exceptional assessment abilities and experience, together with the capability to act with integrity and impartiality. You will carry out high quality and compliant End-Point assessments of apprentice’s competence against the apprenticeship standard at selected venues. Complete scheduled assessments in an accurate and timely manner. Record and submit concise reports with assessment feedback explaining assessment decisions in line with the grading criteria.
Provide detailed and appropriate feedback to support apprentice development. Completing and maintaining all required assessment and regulatory paperwork, using the appropriate systems for internal and external quality assurance. Execute all activities in line with DNA Skills values.
Ensure all assessment judgements are fair, valid and free from bias. Taking responsibility for own development and provide evidence of ongoing, relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Maintaining an excellent working knowledge of Apprenticeship Standards and assessment plans relevant to the area of expertise.
Attend and take part in regular standardisation activities, organised and delivered by DNA Skills, associated with the EPA delivered. Implementing DNA Skills protocols that are set out in DNA Skills specifications, assessment materials and policies. Ensure that a detailed understanding of the DNA Skills policies and processes is up to date and maintained. Efficiently and accurately using the DNA Skills Creatio Green EPA system. Undertake onsite and remote invigilation duties. Raise any conflicts of interest, including in relation to the independence of assessment.
