JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will deliver the Roofer and Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeships at Level 2, to coach and mentor apprentices to meet the gateway for EPA. This role is split between The Halley Academy and the apprentice’s workplaces. Our client is happy to consider both full and part-time working applications. Our clients would also consider applications with a background in construction and property maintenance assessment.
Your responsibilities include:
- With the support from Admin, conduct initial assessment activities for apprentices and help collect enrolment paperwork, advising on the most suitable Training Plan.
- Supported by the Head of Apprenticeships, take the lead with ongoing development and continuous improvement of the programme’s content and training materials.
- Coach a caseload of apprentices based at The Halley Academy, remotely and in the workplace, training them in preparation for assessment or end point assessment.
- Provide feedback to apprentices as to whether they are competent within the requirements and identify areas for improvement.
- Working with the Team, help deliver the apprentice’s Functional Skills in Maths & English L1 & 2 qualifications.
- Review apprentices at regular intervals in accordance with their training plan and provide detailed feedback on progress and achievement to progress past their gateway to EPA.
- Meet targets for timely and overall success rates, ensuring every learner’s achievement and success are timely.
- Liaise with the IQA (where relevant), and attend standardisation and/or quality assurance meetings.
- Report potential leads and issues relating to employers to the Head of Apprenticeships (or nominee).
- Work with the Head of Apprenticeships (or nominee) to ensure the actions in the QIP are carried out within agreed timescales.
- Take part in CPD to maintain professional occupational competence.
- Share and contribute to our client’s mission and values and communicate them through the management of behaviours
- Actively promote and model good practice in equality and diversity, safeguarding, health and safety and carry out impact and risk assessments as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Hold D32/D33, A1 Assessor qualification, or be working towards one
- Hold a coaching or Mentoring qualification, or be working towards one
- Hold a teaching qualification, PTLLS as a minimum or be working towards
- Possess or working towards a minimum Level 2 standard in English and Maths
- Relevant and current experience working within the Roofing sector
- Relevant and current experience working within the Construction / Maintenance sector
- Excellent practical, theoretical and knowledge of vocational specialisms
- Experience of working in a variety of settings with flexible working arrangements
- UK driving licence with access to own vehicle
- Keen to promote equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
- Prepared to work in accordance with the Trust Health and Safety policy

To be an Assessor you would need to hold either an; A1/2, D32/33, or CAVA which we have a link to HERE. Similarly so, to be a FE practitioner, in other words, a Trainer, you should hold at a minimum the AET (Level 3 Award in Education and Training).
