So you want to assess a learner’s vocational achievement in their learning environment? You’ll need the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (AVRA). Let’s go into more detail about the course.
AVRA
The Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (AVRA) is a qualification designed for individuals who want to assess a learner in their educational environment, such as a college or online learning environment.
The AVRA course typically covers the following key areas:
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
- Planning and preparing for assessment
- Carrying out assessment
- Making judgments and decisions based on evidence gathered during the assessment
- Understanding the legal and regulatory requirements for assessment
- Understanding how to assess and provide feedback to learners
There are two units within the AVRA course. These are Unit 1 and Unit 3.
Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
This unit is all knowledge-based. This covers all of the roles and responsibilities of being an assessor. This is an in-depth unit which is an integral part of the course. As it gives you all the answers.
Unit 3 – Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
This is the second part of the course and this is where you will be assessing learners in the learning environment, focusing on their vocational knowledge and understanding. This unit is typically made up of written assignments and face-to-face study.
Upon completion of the AVRA course, learners will have the knowledge and skills required to assess vocational skills effectively. They will be able to plan and prepare for assessments, carry out assessments, make judgments and decisions based on evidence gathered during the assessment, understand the legal and regulatory requirements for assessment and understand how to assess and provide feedback to learners.
